Growing in 2026
We are pleased to be growing a wide range of bee-friendly perennials for the Bee Cafes in 2026. They have been planted into recycled pots in peat-free compost with an organic fertilizer.

Menu Masterclass
Catherine visited the Bee Cafe in Elmhurst Park, Woodbridge to give volunteers and cafe adopters tips on plant care for the wide variety of bee-friendly plants. Regular deadheading encourages perennials to flower for as long as possible.

Planting out!
Spring flowers swapped out of the Bee Cafe planters to make room for summer planting. Thanks to local Cubs and volunteers, the spring plants found a permanent new home along the Sandlings Walk on Martlesham Heath.

A new home for the spring plants!
Martlesham Heath volunteers cleared a site between Sandlings Walk and The Control Tower, ready for all of the spring Bee Cafe perennials to be replanted β with Cubs earning their Gardening Badges in the process.

Summer makeover time!
Woodbridge's Bee Cafes got a refresh β 600 donated plastic bottles filled with 600 bee-friendly plants, now going out to fill the town's urban pollen gaps ready for summer.

Pollinator-friendly plants for a new season!
Preparations under way to swap spring flowers for summer sustenance β including Monardas (Bee Balm), Agastaches, Lavenders, Red Clover, Ox-Eye Daisy and many more. All grown in 600 recycled plastic bottles.

The Bee Corridor spreads!
Following the 10 Bee Cafes in Woodbridge, new cafes have been planted in Playford, Kesgrave and Wickham Market β with volunteers of all ages getting involved.

One month since the official opening and the Bee Cafes are settling in nicely across Woodbridge, with volunteers keeping a close eye on the planters and the bees moving in.

Plastic bottles needed!
Woodbridge's Bee Cafes are in place but many more are in the pipeline! Around 600 used 2-litre clear plastic bottles are needed as plant pots β drop them off at the donation station at Katie's Garden.

The official opening on Market Hill with Woodbridge mayor Eamonn O'Nolan. The BBC covered the story and Paul Martin appeared on Radio Suffolk. Not too many bees in the pouring rain β but we're sure they came!

Official unveiling of the Woodbridge Bee Cafes!
Woodbridge's new Bee Cafes were officially opened on Market Hill by the mayor at 11am on 1st March, in front of volunteers, groups and businesses who helped make them happen.

The plants have been growing on well since the volunteer planting day. Now the 10 Bee Cafe stations are heading out across Woodbridge ahead of the official launch on 1st March β the first day of spring!
